It is not grave.

(The title is just something I have adopted, after hearing a student say it. He wanted to say “it’s no big deal,” and so he translated the French “c’est pas grave” literally. I love it.)

So Joe and I spent a lovely weekend in Alsace, being wined and dined and chauffeured all around. We also popped into the Vosges and Bouxwiller apartments just to see how things were going there, but unfortunately the answer was “not well.” Happily, the rest of the city looks lovely with all the decorations (and vin chaud!), and I think they even scraped up all the dog poop.

And now I return to fretting about my lesson plans, and my unfinished statement of purpose. (What is my purpose, anyway? It would probably be helpful to know.) I wish it weren’t grave, but I fear it is.

  1. Wow, those are some great pictures - if you don’t mind my asking, what kind of camera do you have? I’m looking to buy a new one before Christmas, and I want one that takes good night shots…

  2. Thank you. I’m using a Sony Cybershot from 2004 (think it’s the DSC-T1), which I would recommend highly except for the fact that it started seriously malfunctioning on Sunday–it is pretty old, though. My boyfriend uses a Canon Power-shot A350, which I have been really impressed with. You can see his photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/yeager .
