Jewelry
In my spare time, I make jewelry. Here are some photos of things I’ve made. Click the thumbnail to see the full size image on flickr.
I also sell jewelry. You won’t see any prices here right now, and that’s because all of this stuff has been sold or given away or kept by yours truly. However, I do work on commission. If you see something you like, you’re welcome to ask me to make a similar piece. (I probably won’t be able to continue doing this while I’m living in France, but I’m not leaving until mid-September.)

Freshwater pearls, tiny rubies, and 22k vermeil hooks and pins. I have also made these with carnelian (orange), malachite (green), and pink tourmaline instead of rubies.

Moroccan 22k vermeil filigree, with emeralds, sapphires, and blue topaz. I have also made these with carnelian (orange) replacing all the stones.

I made these two blue topaz pieces as a set, although they did not sell that way. I have also made this design with aquamarine briolettes, which are approximately the same color. Someday I will photograph the aquamarine set, which is mine, because the briolettes are all teardrop-shaped.

These earrings were a gift for a friend. I love them–they are bold but not heavy, and carnelian is such a beautiful color. Unfortunately I don’t know if I can ever find beads like this again! The store where I bought them has closed.

Two photos of the same red chalcedony cluster earrings. The real color of red chalcedony is difficult to capture in a photo, especially with flash. The stones are slightly darker.

Lapis and carnelian necklace. Inspired by a visit to an exhibit on the tombs of Ur, and in particular the jewelry of the Sumerian Queen Puabi. Lapis, carnelian, and high-carat gold is one of my favorite combinations, and I have made several variations on this necklace.

Onyx and silver earrings. Credit to Queen Puabi’s artisans for the wire pattern.

Stick pearls, regular pearls, and an onyx briolette on silver chain. I gave this piece to someone special, but it was hard to part with. I have been looking for horizontally drilled stick pearls ever since, but they are hard to find. |

Garnet, aventurine and silver. This is one of the most complicated pieces I’ve ever made, inspired by jewelry designers Anthony Nak. I love this piece in theory, but in practice it has some design flaws–it is easily tangled and now that the silver is tarnished, it is almost impossible to clean. However, the earrings are very wearable and I have made that design, called a trapeze, in many colors.

I love this Peruvian opal and pearl set–such fun, spring colors–and I have made several variations on it.

I like to make big earrings, because that’s what I like to wear. I made these little pairs for a woman who told me she was too old for big earrings. I thought that was nonsense, but these tinies are pretty cute, too. It’s a set of amethyst briolettes and then on the right, garnet briolettes and antique glass leaves.

I think these tourmelated quartz and black onyx earrings are perfect little-black-dress accompaniments.

This carnelian and gold-filled chain necklace was a birthday present for my mom. She work it to work the next day and came home with a request for the same necklace in black from one of her colleagues. That was flattering! So I’ve made this design in gold and in silver, and with many different types of stone.
| I love these carnelian and silver earrings. They were one of the first pairs I ever made. This design is very versatile and I’ve made it in all kinds of colors and varying lengths. | ||
